A Tiger King spin-off and four more big trailers you might have missed this week

Stephen Porzio

There’s plenty of shows to look forward to in the coming months.

Another seven days have gone by, which means another batch of trailers for our weekly round-up.

While a quiet week in terms of movie teasers, plenty of new footage dropped from hotly-anticipated upcoming TV shows.

Here’s our top picks.

Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story

Just weeks after the release of Tiger King’s second season, Netflix has revealed that a spin-off series – titled Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story – is on the way very soon.

Comprising of three episodes, the documentary will focus on the titular private zoo operator and will arrive on the streamer on 10 December.

Stay Close

Sticking with Netflix, another new release they have this month is Stay Close, a thriller series from Harlan Coben (Safe, The Stranger).

It follows a photojournalist (Richard Armitage), a soccer mom (Cush Jumbo) and a homicide detective (James Nesbitt) whose lives are disturbed by a terrible event from the past.

If Stay Close is half as addictive as The Stranger was earlier this year, we should be in for a treat.

It drops on Netflix on New Year’s Eve.

Reacher

Following two movies starring Tom Cruise (the first of which is great), author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series of books are being adapted for the screen once more, this time on TV.

Landing on Prime Video on 4 February, the show will see Titans star Alan Ritchson step into the title role of the former US Army military policeman who now wanders the country solving crimes.

The Tourist

In this new international thriller, Jamie Dornan plays a man who wakes up after an accident in Australia with no idea of who he is.

From the writers behind The Missing, The Tourist looks set to deliver a gripping mystery with plenty of twists and turns.

It premieres on BBC One on New Year’s Day.

Peacemaker

A spin-off of this year’s The Suicide Squad, this show sees John Cena reprise his role as Peacemaker, a merciless killer who believes in achieving peace at any cost.

However, based on the trailer, it seems as if the series will see the hero/villain attempt to find some form of redemption.

Created by James Gunn, Peacemaker will premiere on 13 January in the US so you can expect it in Ireland sometime after that.
