The director of the upcoming Joker sequel posted new photos of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in the film.

Todd Phillips has announced that Joker: Folie à Deux has completed filming in a recent social media post.

In an Instagram post, the director also revealed two new photos of stars Phoenix and Lady Gaga in their roles as the Joker and Harley Quinn.

“That’s a wrap,” said Phillips. “Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together.”

Plot details of the upcoming film, a sequel to 2019’s Joker, have been kept under wraps. However, we do know that some of it will be set in Arkham Asylum, where Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck ended up at the end of the first film. It’s known that there will also be a musical element involved.

Announced last year, filming began on the sequel in Los Angeles in December. The title relates to a French phrase for a delusion or mental illness shared by two people, which ties in heavily to the casting of Lady Gaga.

Phoenix and Gaga will also star alongside Zazie Beetz, who returns as Sophie Dumond, Fleck’s neighbour from the first film. Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland also star in undisclosed roles.

The first Joker movie earned 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Phoenix took home the award for Best Actor for his role in the film.

Joker: Folie a Deux is set to be released in cinemas on October 4, 2024.
