Legendary actor Ed Harris has said that he does not believe he will appear in Top Gun 3, having played Tom Cruise's superior Rear Admiral Chester 'Hammer' Cain in the smash hit Top Gun: Maverick.
The four-time Oscar nominee was on the red carpet in Dublin city's Light House Cinema tonight (Thursday, 27 February). This was for the world premiere of his new movie Long Day's Journey Into Night, an adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's classic play.
Harris was on the red carpet alongside his co-stars Jessica Lange and Colin Morgan, with the screening taking place as part of the Dublin International Film Festival.
And as well as asking questions about their new drama film - which was filmed in Ireland - we had to ask Harris about the in-the-works Top Gun 3 and whether he'd be a part of the sequel.
"Oh, I doubt it. Yeah, no," he told JOE, adding laughingly: "I don't see why they would ask me."
The actor did state that he had "a good time" working on the blockbuster.

As for Long Day's Journey Into Night, both Harris and Lange expressed their delight that the movie is finally being shown to an audience.
The film was shot in 2022 in Wicklow but has faced release delays due to reported financial problems.
Harris told JOE: "I'm really glad it's being shown, yeah. There was a question if it was ever going to be seen by anybody to tell you the truth.
"I'm glad the festival has got it and I'm hoping people dig it."
Echoing Harris' sentiments Lange told JOE that she hopes the Dublin International Film Festival will help the drama attract distribution.
"It's been a while. Yeah, we ran into all sorts of difficulties with it," she said.
"I'm very pleased that it's finally going to be seen and hopefully from this, you know, we'll get some distribution for it and it'll see the light of day."
