Welcome to #TRAILERCHEST, where we're taking a look at the brand new trailer for Child's Play.Plot's it all about? The 1988 original involved a serial killer transferring his soul into the body of a doll, who then proceeds to go on a murderous rampage. It isn't clear how much of that plot will remain here, as there seems to be a strong A.I. vibe going on, and if we were to guess, it looks like this version of Chucky has more in common with Skynet than it does with serial killers.
Outside of that, everything else remains the same. Young boy is convinced his new toy kills people for fun, everyone around him thinks he is playing make-believe or looking for attention.
Of course, one of the greatest assets that the original had was the incredible voice work by Brad Dourif, but this time around, they've only gone and got Mark Hamill, who (when he isn't saving a far, far away galaxy, a long, long time ago) was amazing as the voice of The Joker in the iconic Batman: The Animated Series.
So they've got that bit down, now all they need to do is nail a couple of inventive kills and we're on to a winner!
