One of Netflix’s biggest action movies to date could be getting an unexpected sequel.

That film is 2019’s Triple Frontier, which was co-written and directed by J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, A Most Violent Year) and starred Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal.

The five actors played ex-United States Army Delta Force operators who team up to rob a South American drug lord’s home located in a Columbian jungle.

Costing a reported $115 million to make, Triple Frontier premiered to solid reviews – 70% on Rotten Tomatoes – and in the years since has developed a bit of a cult following among action movie fans.

That said, there had not been much talk of a sequel to the heist flick until a recent interview with Hunnam for his new Netflix space opera Rebel Moon.

Charlie Hunnam revealed he and Netflix are working on a Triple Frontier sequel

The Pacific Rim and Sons of Anarchy star was speaking to The Mary Sue, when the outlet’s Rachel Leishman ended their conversation by professing her love for Triple Frontier.

In response, Hunnam said:

“Right on. Do you know – I mean nothing guaranteed, nothing guaranteed – but I just set up recently, as the main producer, a potential sequel to Triple Frontier at Netflix.

“So, we’re working on that. It’s in its absolute infancy.

“But I feel like I’ve got a lot more to say about the sort of life after life of military personnel.

“So, we’re really hopeful… Watch this space.”
