Our TV movie pick for tonight (Tuesday, 31 March) is True Lies, the iconic 1994 action comedy written and directed by James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic).
A remake of the French film La Totale, the movie focuses on Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger, reuniting with Cameron after The Terminator and its sequel), a man who struggles to lead a double life.
To his wife, Helen (Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis, Everything Everywhere All At Once), he is just a boring computer salesman often away on business trips. In reality, however, he is a secret agent for Omega Sector, a top-secret US counterterrorism agency.
The first film to cost $100 million, True Lies became the third-highest-grossing movie of 1994, garnering nearly $378.9 million at the box office.
The blockbuster was praised for its action spectacle, its lighter "What if James Bond was married?" plotline, and its lead performances from Curtis, Schwarzenegger, as well as Bill Paxton (Aliens) as a sleazy car salesman, with whom Helen becomes involved.
True Lies is airing on TV tonight on Comedy Central at 9pm. It's also streaming on Disney+.
