TV show that’s based on the finest horror-comedy of the decade has added to its cast

Paul Moore

Genuinely can’t wait for this.

There’s a lot of life lessons that you can learn from the sublime horror-comedy What We Do in the Shadows. For example, the fashion look “which I call dead but delicious” will never go out of style and “if you are going to eat a sandwich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no one had f**ked it.”

Wise words.

As stated before, we’re massive fans of Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s beloved cult-classic and with news of a TV spin-off coming, they’ve already begun recruiting some vampires that probably won’t put down towels when they’re eating.

After originally announcing the additions of Kayvan Novak (Danger Mouse, Thunderbirds Are Go), Matt Berry (The IT Crowd, Toast of London), Natasia Demetriou (Year Friends) and Harvey Guillen (The Thundermans, The Internship), the What We Do in the Shadows TV show has added Beanie Feldstein (Lady Bird), Doug Jones (Hellboy, The Shape of Water), Jake McDorman (Limitless) and Mark Proksch (The Office) to their cast.

The half-hour comedy will debut on FX and it will be written by Clement and directed by Waititi.

The TV series isn’t the only What We Do in the Shadows content that’s in development. Waititi and Clement are also working on a sequel called We’re Wolves, which will focus on the beloved werewolves from the original – remember, they’re not swearwolves!

During a recent interview with JOE, Waititi gave a few details about the highly anticipated sequel.

Regarding We’re Wolves, he said: “I think we’ve written three pages over the last two years! The first one (What We Do in the Shadows) took us about six years to do. This one, we’re hoping to get done a lot quicker. Actually, after this (Thor press junket) we’re hoping to get together and carve out some time to finish the script.”

Waititi also announced that a TV show called Paranormal Event Response Unit was in the works, focusing on the inept cops that featured in the film.

We can’t wait.
