Holding a 7.0 IMDB score, it's a thought-provoking thriller that is not for the faint of heart.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Tuesday, 20 January) is Unthinkable, an underseen and very tense thriller from 2010.

The film follows FBI Agent Helen Brody (Carrie-Anne Moss, The Matrix) as she races to discover the location of three nuclear bombs, each programmed to detonate in a different US city.

The authorities quickly capture the man responsible (played by Michael Sheen, Frost/Nixon), who announced the murderous plot in a video.

When he won't divulge the location of the bombs, a mysterious Black Ops interrogator named 'H' (Samuel L. Jackson, Pulp Fiction) is brought in to assist Brody in her questioning.

It soon becomes clear that H's speciality is torture, which he has been permitted to carry out on the detainee in an effort to uncover the bombs' location.

As H's methods intensify, Brody begins to question the brutality as time ticks away.

The thriller did not get a cinema release, perhaps on account of its dark subject matter and grim violence.

We'd argue that the movie is worth seeking out for its great acting, its compelling story and its complex exploration of an age-old question: Does the end justify the means?

Unthinkable is airing on TV tonight on the channel Legend at 11.15pm.

The film is also currently streaming on Prime Video but is leaving the service on Wednesday morning (21 January).
