Jake Gyllenhaal reunites with director of his best film for Netflix’s mysterious new horror

This looks like the definition of “mind-bending”.

Back in 2014, Jake Gyllenhaal teamed up with writer/director Dan Gilroy for a fantastic thriller called Nightcrawler, a movie that Gyllenhaal really should’ve won ALL of the acting awards for.

If you’ve never seen it, we fully recommend you check it out (it is available on Netflix right now), but we’re even more excited for their follow up project, the fantastically titled Velvet Buzzsaw (a movie we mentioned in our 9 most anticipated 2019 Netflix exclusives).

Gyllenhaal plays an art critic who appears to be having some personal problems with his gallery, when he is suddenly introduced to some incredible new work by an artist who has mysteriously already died.

He decides to show this work in his gallery, but he soon discovers that there is something very, VERY wrong with the pieces…

The trailer goes into more detail (we almost recommend you only watch the first minute of it, as the second half gives a tad too much info away), but the movie also stars Rene Russo, Toni Collette, Zawe Ashton, Tom Sturridge, Natalia Dyer, Daveed Diggs, Billy Magnussen, and John Malkovich.

Plus that creepy robot man.

Yikes.

Velvet Buzzsaw will be available on Netflix from Friday 1 February.
