Cavan man Barry John Crowe is 36-years-old and is now the proud holder of the world record for making the most sausages inside a minute.
Viewers of RTÉ’s Big Week On The Farm watch Barry John – who has been doing this since the age of 13 – casually knit together a phenomenal 78 sausages without breaking a sweat.
In order to be eligible, the sausages had to be at least four inches long with no blemishes, and Barry John had a previous record of 60 to aim for.
It was no bother to him.
Speaking afterwards, Barry John said: “It is a great achievement, I am delighted to be able to have done it. It came as a bit of a surprise to be asked to do it so to be able to manage it on live television is great. Having the name in the Guinness World Record is definitely a bonus!”
The world record was overseen and verified by Guinness World Records adjudicator Jack Brockbank. This is the second world record broken on the RTÉ One programme – last year Ivan Scott smashed the sheep shearing world record live on air.
