For fans of the original cult horror, The Evil Dead, prepare yourselves for something a little less funny and a lot more terrifying.

The Evil Dead was first written, produced and directed by Sam Raimi in 1981. The movie spawned a franchise, with three movies emerging from the original. It gained cult status due to the overly dramatic acting with bad dialogue performed by terrible actors.
It was comedic and so bad it was good.
The highly anticipated remake has taken years to come into fruition. The good news is its rumoured to be positively grotesque, worse than the Saw or Hostel movies, but the bad news is that Bruce Campbell will not reprise his role as cult icon Ash Williams. Campbell is on board as a producer though.
Still, lots to look forward to – the remake was written by Raimi again, but the dialogue was polished by Juno writer Diablo Cody.
Raimi also hand picked the director, Fede Alvarez from Uruguay. This will be his first feature film, although he has made a number of short films in the sci-fi and horror genres.
The story slightly differs to the original. It still involves five people going to a remote cabin in the woods, although this time they find a book, not a videotape that releases evil spirits intent on killing them in painful ways.
