If you think Jack The Giant Slayer is just another fairytale, you’d be wrong.
Hollywood has enjoyed taking fairy tales and turning them into magical action movies. Snow White (done twice) and Hansel and Gretel are the new type of action movie, with a fantastical storyline and feisty fighting heroines.
And so the same has happened with Jack and the Beanstalk, now called Jack The Giant Slayer. Jack is played by Nicholas Hoult, who is also in the latest zombie comedy Warm Bodies and has a cameo in Lincoln. Ewan McGregor is leader of the Kings guard, who assist Jack in trying to free the princess from the Giant’s lair. Stanley Tucci and Bill Nighy also feature as a Lord and General respectively.
Jack accidently opens the portal to a world where giants exist, who capture the princess and attempt to claim the king’s land. Jack must help repair what he has broken and save the princess. The movie was originally going to be called Jack The Giant Killer.
Jack The Giant Slayer is released March 22 nationwide.
