Stephen Fry blasphemy Gay Byrne

The longest answer to that question that Gaybo has ever gotten.

– Update –

Since the publication of this article, Ireland has officially voted to remove references to blasphemy from Article 40.6.1 of the Irish Constitution.

Many have suggested that Stephen Fry’s remarks in his Meaning of Life interview with Gay Byrne in 2015 proved a huge kick-starter in what would lead to the public vote.

With that in mind, we have chosen to re-share this piece following the referendum result.

– Update ends –

The Meaning of Life with (Uncle) Gay Byrne has recently made a welcome return to TV screens and on February 1 he has a fantastic guest lined up.

We’re huge fans of QI host Stephen Fry here in JOE Towers because the broadcaster, actor and writer is one of the most articulate, intelligent and interesting people that you could hear/read.

As many of you know, Gay Byrne always asks his guests what they would say to God if they ever met him/her/it at the pearly gates of heaven.

Stephen Fry is a staunch atheist and his answer is very powerful as seen by the startled expression on Gay Byrne’s face.

This is excellent TV.
