To quote Des Curley from The Snapper, “I suppose a ride is out of the question?”
Foreign visitors to this country are often baffled by the local dialects they encounter while they’re here and the lovely Rachel Stevens was the latest to be caught out this evening.
Unfortunately for Rachel, her misunderstanding was captured on live television as she unwittingly agreed to shift a male member of The Voice of Ireland audience, who, in time-honoured Irish teenage disco fashion, asked a friend (in this case Bressie) to do the dirty work for him.
The quality of the video below isn’t fantastic but you get the picture…

I asked Bressie to ask @MsRachelStevens to shift me at @RTETheVoice blind auditions.. It got on TV! Perks of being in the front row! @nbrez

We’re pretty sure the lucky lad in question (see above) didn’t actually get to lock lips with Rachel – she is married after all – but at least she’ll know to turn down similar requests again.
She should also avoid agreeing to anything involving the words ‘meet’ and ‘ride’ as well just to be safe.
Hat-tip to Any Brief for sending this one our way
