Ever since word came out that there was a Partridge movie in the works, fans of the finest television and radio presenter in Norfolk have been anxiously awaiting the release of Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Thankfully, there’s not too long to wait now and to keep fans ticking over until the movie’s release date in August, an official trailer has been released to give us an idea of just what to expect from Partridge’s transition to the big screen.

Directed by Declan Lowney, written by Steve Coogan and longtime collaborator Armando Ianucci amongst others and starring Coogan as well as our own Colm Meaney, the plot revolves around a hostage situation at the local radio station which requires Alan to act as a negotiator, and few men have a way with words like Alan does.

If the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like we’re in for a treat and after it does go on release, fans will be hoping that past critics of Partridge’s will have a plate with some words and a knife and fork.

What we’re trying to say is that they will be eating their words.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa is due to go on general release on August 7
