Fans of the show loved it for its gritty no-holds-barred storyline that saw a normal Joe Soap becoming a major drugs kingpin without too many people knowing. While it sounds like a good story, it’s also the real life story of a man whose name is Walter White.

The man whose real name is Walter White is a former meth cook from Alabama and when Vince Gilligan’s hit show first aired on AMC, the real Walter was right in the middle of becoming the next ‘Heisenberg’.

So, did Vince Gilligan steal his ideas for Breaking Bad from a Southern meth cook by the name of Walter White? Apparently, the similarities are purely coincidence…

Here’s what VICE had to say about the video: “When AMC’s Breaking Bad premiered in 2008, one of Alabama’s most successful meth cooks was already knee deep in building a massive meth empire. His name? Walter White. In this documentary, Walter tells us the secret behind his product, how he stacked up thousands of dollars per day, and why his partner is now serving two life sentences.”

It really is an amazing story that holds a lot of similarities with the show and the VICE video above is certainly one the watch, even if it’s over 17 minutes long.
