The general consensus is that the right person won the competition.
After weeks and weeks of dancing and stiff competition, including that emotional week when we all had to say goodbye to Marty Morrissey (which we’re still not fully over, to be honest), the winner of this year’s Dancing With The Stars has been announced.
Singer Jake Carter and his professional dance partner Karen Byrne took home the glitterball trophy, having defeated camogie player Anna Geary and her dance partner Kai Widdrington, as well as comedian and actress Deirdre O’Kane and her dance partner John Nolan.
The winner was chosen entirely by public vote, with the in-house judges having no power on the final winner.

The public also had their say on the final, which was pretty much unanimous in their support of Jake and Karen:
So glad the right dancer won #DWTSIrl….the number of times I screamed #Feet at my TV tonight was unbelievable! #toes #toes #toes
But @jakecartermusic didn't put a foot wrong! #deservedwinner
