Warrior, the brilliant 2011 sports drama starring Tom Hardy (Havoc, MobLand), is airing on TV tonight (Saturday, 18 January).
In the movie, the actor plays Tommy Conlon, a troubled former Marine who returns home and enters a mixed martial arts tournament with a $5 million prize.
It soon becomes clear, however, that his estranged brother Brendan (Joel Edgerton, Train Dreams), a cash-strapped teacher and family man, is also competing.
As their paths draw closer in the tournament, the two brothers are forced to finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart.
Directed by Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant, The Way Back), Warrior also features Nick Nolte as Brendan and Tommy's recovering alcoholic father in an Oscar-nominated supporting turn.
Praised for its blend of intense fight sequences and heartfelt storytelling, the film holds an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes and has become seen as a modern sports classic.
Warrior is airing on TV tonight on the channel Legend Xtra at 9pm. It's also currently streaming on Netflix and Rakuten TV.
