WATCH: RTÉ releases first look at this year’s Late Late Toy Show

It’s coming up to that time of the year again.

It’s two weeks until The Late Late Toy Show is back on our screens to mark the official beginning of the festive season.

For those seeking a first look at the 2021 take on the iconic annual TV event, you are now in luck as RTÉ has released a short promo for the programme.

In the ad, titled “Totally Worth It”, various children are seen falling asleep in a variety of situations in the daytime having stayed up late to watch the Toy Show.

Host Ryan Tubridy is also seen in a Christmas jumper similarly wrecked thanks to his hosting gig.

The promo will first air on Irish television during Friday evening’s RTÉ Six One News bulletin.

As for what’s expected from this year’s show, Tubridy has been keeping details close to his chest.

On last week’s Late Late, Toy Show superstar Adam King called on the host to give the public a hint as to what the programme’s theme will be but the latter remained tight-lipped on the details.

However, weeks ago, he did reveal on his radio show that to prepare for the return of the national institution he “had to go and get fitted up for a new nose”.

The official synopsis from RTÉ for the programme reads:

“The Late Late Toy Show, Ireland’s most-loved, most-watched TV show returns with host Ryan Tubridy for another extraordinary night to remember. Ryan and his army of toy testers will bring the magic from all corners of the country to reveal the hottest new toys of the year.

“Full of incredible characters, knockout performances, amazing surprise guests (and an array of Ryan’s Christmas jumpers!) everyone is invited to be part of the most phenomenal night, where Christmas truly begins. Stay up late…it will be totally worth it!”

You can check out the teaser below. The Late Late Toy Show airs Friday, 26 November at 9:35 pm on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
