There are a lot of Irish faces

The real draw is the Irish creative muscle behind the drama. Element Pictures, one of the country's most successful production companies, and Lenny Abrahamson, among Ireland's most celebrated directors, are teaming up again on the marquee international series.

The series adapts the bestselling novel by "One Day" author David Nicholls. First announced by Variety earlier this year, this project marks Abrahamson's first BBC project since Normal People, which Element Pictures also produced. Filming is set for the Lake District and around Manchester.

The eight-part commission keeps a run of high-profile work flowing through Element Pictures, the Fremantle-owned Irish powerhouse behind Normal People. Fremantle will handle global sales, with De Maio Entertainment spearheading the partnership with Starz.
