You Season 2 has swiped its leading lady from another hit Netflix series

you season 2

We’re sure things will turn out just fine for her character, too…

It barely made a dent in viewership numbers when it was initially released on the Lifetime Channel in the States, but once You was made available on Netflix, it promptly went HUGE.

So much so, it is announced that You Season Two has now been officially made a Netflix exclusive, with a late 2019/early 2020 release date anticipated.

Hopefully not getting into too much spoiler territory (and to be fair, if you haven’t watched all of the first season, you probably shouldn’t be reading about the next season right now), there is plenty of reason for the majority of the cast to be entirely replaced with the follow-up.

The story is set to loosely follow the second novel in the series by Caroline Kepnes, titled Hidden Bodies, but considering the TV adaptation of You already made some divergences from the original story, we can probably assume they will continue to separate more and more as they get further into the stories.

We know that the much-lusted-after Joe (Penn Badgley) will be back, and we can probably count on his “Oh, we thought she was dead?” ex, Candace (Ambyr Childers) to be back, too.

On top of that, the new arrivals will include Joe’s new love-interest, named… eh… Love. She’ll be played by The Haunting Of Hill House’s Victoria Pedretti (she played Nell, who the whole horror series was essentially based around), and the character will be “an aspiring chef working as a produce manager in a high-end grocery store.”

Love’s brother Forty (did their parents love tennis, or…?) will be played by Heathers star James Scully, who will apparently be someone that will become good friends with Joe, but will also represent a major barrier between him and Love.

Elsewhere, the other big question mark is about the potential return of Doctor Nicky (John Stamos), with the show’s creator telling The Hollywood Reporter that:

“It’s too soon to say definitely whether John Stamos will return in season two but we have been talking a lot about the character and we’re excited to keep telling that story.”
