Britney Spears admits who she lost her virginity to after lying about it for 30 years

Dan Seddon

“My team created this whole narrative around me.”

In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Britney Spears revealed who she really lost her virginity to after lying about it for most of her life.

Apparently, the ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ singer’s management constructed a sexless narrative around their prized possession, who at one period in time was one of the most famous women on the planet.

In her pomp, Spears was depicted as some sort of ‘eternal virgin’ in order to protect her young legion of fans.

“The truth was, if you’re young and single in Hollywood, if there’s even a rumour that you’ve had sex, you’re labelled a slut. So my team created this whole narrative around me,” the star wrote.

“Given that I had so many teenage fans, my managers and press people had long tried to portray me as an eternal virgin – never mind that Justin Timberlake and I had been living together, and I’d been having sex since I was 14.”

She went on to confirm that at the age of 14, her brother’s childhood best friend (who remained nameless) took her virginity.

Despite separating from fellow pop superstar Timberlake in 2002, Spears was forced into maintaining her virginal image for another year, eventually announcing that “two years into my relationship with Justin” was the first time they slept together.

“Why did my managers work so hard to claim I was some kind of young-girl virgin even into my twenties? Whose business was it if I’d had sex or not?” read a portion of her autobiography.

Meanwhile, The Woman in Me also made headlines for its story of secret abortion, as Spears and Timberlake decided not to keep their baby in the early 2000s.

She told PEOPLE: “Over the past 15 years or even at the start of my career, I sat back while people spoke about me and told my story for me.

“After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life.”
