Great news.

Chicago rapper Chance the Rapper has announced that he will be releasing a new album this week.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Chance said that it would be released just in time for the Special Olympics, at which he is performing this week.

He hasn’t explained how the album will be released just yet though.

His debut album Acid Rap was put out for free on YouTube, with his second project Colouring Book appearing exclusively on Apple Music, before being made available everywhere soon afterwards.

Chance himself has always spoken vocally about why he prefers making music for free, saying to Vanity Fair: “I never wanted to sell my music because I thought putting a price on it put a limit on it, and inhibited me from making a connection.”

After announcing that his album would be released this week, he said that he was unsure whether this project would be put out for free, saying: ” I’ve never been against selling music. Music has value. I put my music out there for free because I wanted people to see and notice it as a beacon for what I’m doing, in terms of how unorthodox I wanted my approach and my delivery of each piece of music to be.”

We don’t care how it’s released, we just can’t wait to hear it.

Chance has an interesting relationship with Dublin. He cancelled his most recent gig following his friend Kanye West’s breakdown and has not returned since.

We hope it’s not to do with anything that happened to him in Temple Bar when he was here in 2013…
