WATCH: Coldplay invite fan up on stage to play piano in Germany

Giving Chris Martin a run for his money

The stuff of dreams.

We’ve all thought about it. Whether you’re rocking out to a song on the bus, in the car or while you’re lying in bed, we’ve all dreamt that we were the ones playing the lead guitar solo or hitting the high notes of the chorus.

Well for this lucky Coldplay fan, that dream became a reality on Tuesday night when his idol invited him up on stage to play piano in front of just under 70,000 people in the Olympiastadion in Munich.

A man called Ferdinand was one of the 70,000 people that attended the concert and was among many that had brought a custom banner in with him.

His sign was slightly different to everyone elses however, and in black writing on a white background read the words, “Can I play Everglow for you.”

The band took Ferdinand up on his offer and as the surprised fan made his way to the stage, Martin said: “I think it’s important for Britain and Germany to work together.”

Ferdinand meant business and started to remove his jacket as he climbed the steps of the stage. His first port of call was to take a selfie but he was stopped by Martin who assured him that there would be enough pictures and videos taken from the crowd.

The fan blew the crowd away with his epic piano skills and the Coldplay frontman was so impressed he joked about going home and leaving Ferdinand to finish the gig.

Coldplay performed at the One Love benefit concert in Manchester on Sunday. Chris made reference to the recent terror attacks. He said ‘this is a German-British union, let’s go. Let’s keep it together’, highlighting the importance of Europe sticking together in these times.
