WATCH: Eminem surprises student with video appearance on their graduation day

They found it hard not to just lose it.

Can the real Slim Shady please stand up?

Most secondary school graduations are quite standard and boring. They follow the same format, a speech from the principal about how you’re the best class he’s ever had, how you’ll be sadly missed, a few quick songs from the students, the handing out of your scrolls, curtains close and straight to the bar for the rest of the day.

In this school in America, they did things somewhat different this year. The rapper, Eminem, surprised students at a high school in Flint, Michigan by appearing at their graduation ceremony via video.

The music icon reached out to school officials and asked if he could be part of their celebrations.

Having penned wonderful songs such as Stan, Lose Yourself and Rap God, forming something to say to a class of graduating students was never going to be much of a task to the Michigan maestro.

“What’s up Class of 2017? This is Eminem,” he said in the video. “I just want to say congratulations to the graduating seniors of Flint Northwestern, Flint Southwestern and Flint Accelerated Learning Academy. Congrats to all your guys’ hard work, man. You earned this moment.”

Cast your mind back to your graduation. What sort of present did you get? A new watch? A new pair of shoes? Maybe just a couple of quid to celebrate the day?

Well, to top off the day for the students of Flint, Eminem also gave every graduating student a pair of Beats by Dre headphones through his Marshall Mathers Foundation.

The residents of the town have been in the news for the past few years after a pollution disaster left thousands of them exposed to lead-contaminated water.

This isn’t the first time the rapper has helped the people of Flint. Last year he provided thousands of students with school supplies by teaming up with organisers at the Kids In Need Foundation.
