The great and good of Irish radio gathered at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny on Friday night for the 2016 version of the PPI Radio Awards.
700 guests attended the ceremony in which awards were handed out after a judging process that involved over 90 individuals who listened to 282 hours of radio submitted in 700 entries.
Some of the big station winners included BBC Radio Ulster (Full Service Station of the Year), Cork’s Red FM (Music Station of the Year) and Radio Kerry (Local Station of the Year).
From an individual perspective, meanwhile, Today FM’s Dermot Whelan (pictured with Dave Moore and JOE’s Eric Lalor, above) took home the award for Music Presenter of the Year.
RTE’s Justin McCarthy was awarded the News Presenter of the Year and Joe Molloy of Newstalk’s Off the Ball won the award for Sports Broadcaster of the Year for the third year in a row.
