JOE’s 5 go-to gigs in Ireland this week (Feb 22 – Feb 28)

Eric Lalor

The best of the live music gigs around Ireland this week.

Who: Baio
Date: Feb 22nd
Where: Workmans Club, Dublin

Chris Baio is more known as being the bassist from indie darlings Vampire Weekend. He also has a solo project on the go as a respected producer and DJ.

He brings these talents to the Workmans tonight and we expect fireworks.

Who: Foxes
Date: Feb 24th
Where: Whelans, Dublin

Foxes is the brainchild of English singer/songwriter Louisa Rose Allen. The elder statesmen of us all will notice a resemblance to Susanna Hoff and that can never be a bad thing.

She has a great ear for catchy electronic based tunes and will serenade the capital this Wednesday night.

Where: Roisin Dubh, Galway

Belfast band Girls Names head out west to Galway this Thursday for a gig which will be eagerly awaited by their fans.

Who: Richard Hawley
Date: Feb 26th
Where: Black Box, Galway

Former member of Pulp, Richard Hawley has become something of a cult indie figure and has been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, not once, but twice.

The Sheffield-born singer is a fantastic live act and Galwegians are in for an absolute treat this Friday night.

Who: The 4 Of Us
Date: Feb 27th
Where: Spirit Store, Dundalk

The 4 Of Us are a national treasure and should be celebrated accordingly. The Murphy brothers from Newry are still going strong.

Their very first album, Songs For The Tempted is a brilliant album and contains some absolute belters on it.
