Meighan had been with Kasabian since its foundation in 1997.
Kasabian lead singer Tom Meighan has parted ways with the English rock outfit, according to a statement issued by the band earlier today (6 July).
In a tweet published on Monday, the band confirmed: "Tom Meighan is stepping down from Kasabian by mutual consent. Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track. We will not be commenting further."
On his personal Twitter account, the 39-year-old wrote: "Following today's announcement I just wanted to let you all know that I am doing well. I'm in a really good place now. Thanks for all your love and support. I'll be seeing you all very soon."
Throughout his career, Meighan was known for his controversial comments, often insulting other rockers, such as Pete Doherty, whom he called "a fucking tramp."
The band most recently released the album For Crying Out Loud in 2017.
