Kendrick Lamar has just released a brand new album of 8 songs

This is the perfect companion piece to To Pimp a Butterfly.

Kendrick Lamar has released a surprise new album of eight songs, and called it untitled unmastered.

None of the tracks are given names, but they have dates that indicate they were recorded between 2013 and 2014.

Only the seventh track appears to have been recorded between 2014 and 2016.

Lamar recently referred to “a chamber of material” that he did not use on To Pimp a Butterfly, reports The Guardian.

“I got a chamber of material from the album that I was in love [with], where sample clearances or something as simple as a deadline kept it off the album,” he said.

“But I think probably close to 10 songs that I’m in love with that I’ll still play and still perform that didn’t make the cut.”

Kendrick Lamar headlines the opening night of the Longitude Festival on Friday 16 July.
