An incredible achievement.
Kodaline’s song ‘All I Want’ has become the fourth Irish track to crack a billion streams on Spotify.
Released as the fourth single off of their 2013 album In a Perfect World, the song has garnered – at the time of writing on Saturday morning – 1,000,766,655 listens on the popular audio streaming service.
On Friday (25 August), the four-piece – whose origins are from Swords in Dublin – said about the achievement: “Big numbers! Over a billion. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You have changed our lives.”

Vincent May, band’s drummer, also wrote on Instagram: “Joined the pretty exclusive billion club on Spotify today! Only 470 other songs have reached this milestone so for a band from Swords to do that is pretty f****** cool.”

The billion club
The only other Irish songs to reach a billion streams on the service are ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol (around 1.1 billion), ‘Hall of Fame’ by The Script (around 1.2 billion) and ‘Take Me to Church’ by Hozier (around 2.1 billion).
This feat is all the more impressive given that no music from such major Irish acts as The Cranberries, Dermot Kennedy, The Pogues, Sinéad O’Connor, Thin Lizzy, U2 and Van Morrison has managed to accomplish this as of yet.
Its worth noting though that, as part of One Direction, Westmeath man Niall Horan has had several tracks surpass a billion listens, while English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran also did so with his single about Ireland – ‘Galway Girl’.
Other international acts with multiple songs in Spotify’s billions club include Arctic Monkeys, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Drake, Dua Lipa, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, Olivia Rodrigo, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.
