WATCH: Liam Gallagher’s first play of brand new song ‘When I’m in Need’ in that epic Irish pub jam

A JOE exclusive.

JOE

His first exclusive play of ‘When I’m in Need’.

We were delighted to see Liam Gallagher lending his hand to some musicians in an Irish pub on Sunday in Montreal.

The former Oasis frontman is now hitting the road on his own for the first time and has already blown fans away with the rip-roaring Wall of Glass.

Well, JOE got their hands on some brand new and exclusive footage from that music session in Montreal where Gallagher played one of his brand new songs called When I’m in Need from his upcoming album.

The song is softer than Gallagher’s debut solo single and is similar to the likes of Rocking Chair and Idler’s Dream that were classic gems that were hidden away in Oasis’ B-sides but had the potential to be (and should have been) on their albums.

Containing the lyrics “When I’m in need, she’s right by my side” and “when I’m with her, I feel I can fly. Lost in a world in her smile,” the video starts with Gallagher playing the guitar on his own before the rest of the musicians join in towards the end when they’ve finally figured out the chords.

Here it is below…

Gallagher was in flying form and even stuck around for a few more tunes, one of which was a Beatles classic Baby You’re a Rich Man, and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Star was happy to belt out the lines “how does it feel to be one of the beautiful people.”

Keeley Ryan is a writer for Her and her mam and dad, Carol McKeown and Dan Ryan happened to be in that pub on Sunday when Gallagher strolled in. Keeley Ryan told JOE:

“Liam Gallagher was in Montreal to play Osheaga, a giant Electric Picnic-y festival (without the camping), on Saturday.

“On Sunday, he popped into McKibbin’s, an Irish pub in the downtown area, around 1.45-ish. He was telling people that he just wanted to be able to get out of his hotel room for a bit.

“He was there until 3.30 & just ‘disappeared’. He went up to join the band twice – the trad song & the vids from wetransfer.

He was really nice and took pics with the staff and fans and was sitting at one of the tables near the stage and one of the band members said ‘you look like you could play’.

“Liam said, ‘no, but I can drink.’

“The band member asked him if he was from Liverpool, and he said no, Manchester. That’s when everyone began to realise who it was.”

Gallagher has given no indication as to when this new single will be released but stated on Twitter that it would be on his new album, As You Were…
