Looks like it’s the Boss who’ll be playing those big gigs in Croke Park this summer

Aww yeah

Conor Heneghan

Bruce Springsteen

It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we can’t help but get excited all the same.

According to the Herald, darling of music fans worldwide and particularly in Ireland, Bruce Springsteen, will be back on these shores in the summer for not just one, but two gigs in Croke Park.

The Herald’s source didn’t name Springsteen by name but they did tell the paper that the act playing Croker, due to be announced officially later this week, is “a well-known American musician whose songs include ‘Born in the USA’ and who appeals to all ages”.

Hmmm. Any chance of another hint there mate?

The Herald also revealed that one gig will be announced on Friday and another on Saturday morning, which will mean a return to Ireland for a man who has delivered countless memorable performances at venues throughout the country in recent years.

The gigs, of course, will be subject to license and while that’s usually a formality, we don’t have to remind you about what happened with some lad named Garth Brooks last summer.

In an attempt to avoid such a mess repeating itself, an impartial liaison officer will be appointed to work between the residents and Croke Park, so here’s hoping Enda himself and the Mexican ambassador don’t have to intervene in an attempt to make sure these gigs go ahead.

Looking forward to having you again Bruce.

The Boss is back!
