MCD have confirmed that the Oxegen Festival has been cancelled this year.

The promoters say that the decision is down to the lack of a headline act, as well as financial demands from local agencies. The future of Oxegen – once the most popular festival on the calendar – is now in serious doubt after MCD confirmed “it is no longer viable to stage Oxegen in its current form.” The Punchestown event was shelved in 2012 but returned last year, with a major shift in emphasis to dance acts last year - with David Guetta and Snoop Dogg headlining - to differentiate it from the increasingly popular Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Co. Laois.
