Pieta announce online Concert of Hope to replace Darkness Into Light walk

We’ll certainly be tuning in.

Since its inception in 2009, Darkness Into Light has marked an annual event in which people all around the world walk into dawn, in a show of support for those in crisis. Sadly, due to the risk of Covid-19, Pieta has announced that the walk cannot go ahead this year.

However, the Irish charity today announced that it would be broadcasting a Concert of Hope in place of the walk. The concert, which will go from 5pm-10pm tomorrow (25 April), will be live streamed on Pieta’s Facebook channel as well as on each of the act’s individual Facebook pages as they perform.

Confirmed acts include: Pa Sheehy of Walking on Cars, Dan Murphy of Hermitage Green, Brian Kennedy, Rickie O’Neill of The Saw Doctors, Riptide Movement, Paddy Casey, Ryan Sheridan, The Stunning & The Walls, Don Mescall, Ross Breen, The 4 of Us, as well as Aslan’s Christy Dignam and his daughter, Kiera.

People who tune in to some Irish talent this Saturday while at home will be able to donate to Pieta through a button on their Facebook page. You can also donate here.

On 9 May, people will still be encouraged to take a photograph of a “Sunrise” moment and share it using the #DIL2020 hashtag.
