The Verve frontman is back over next year…

Richard Ashcroft will visit Dublin in early 2019 as part of his brand new UK and Ireland tour.

Having wowed Irish crowds at Malahide Castle during the summer as special guest to Liam Gallagher, the Verve man will now headline the Olympia Theatre on Monday 29 April, 2019.

Tickets from €54.50 go on sale next Friday, 12 October at 9am via Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.

Ashcroft’s fifth solo album Natural Rebel lands just a week later.

It’s been a busy time for the prolific singer-songwriter, who recently made headlines following an appearance on Soccer AM.

Viewers believed they witnessed a bag of drugs falling from the leg of his jeans, something the 47-year-old quickly and firmly rubbished.

Taking to Instagram to provide since-deleted clarification, Ashcroft said:

“Just a quick message to a couple of you trolls on Twitter who are making a name for yourselves out of me – and also people moralising and virtue signalling. Number one: Cocaine and I have had no relationship for decades. Number two: Don’t you ever surmise what has fallen out of my pocket. And, don’t bring my children into it.”

He added: “You’re on thin ice. Don’t libel my name. My dad didn’t like litter and I don’t really like litter. But it gets a bit preposterous in my pocket.  In The Verve I was known as Colombo, so get your facts right. You’re on thin ice. Peace.”
