Sony have dropped R. Kelly from their label

The backlash against R. Kelly continues.

The fallout from Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly documentary series continues to rage, and today it was reported that Sony/RCA  would be parting ways with the controversial R&B singer. The six-part series featured interviews with multiple women who each detailed similar accounts of sexual and physical abuse allegedly perpetrated by Kelly. Since the documentary, Sony has been the subject of "Mute R. Kelly" protests, urging the company to drop the 'Ignition' singer from their record label. On Friday, it was reported by Billboard that Kelly and the label had parted ways. The decision follows a week in which Lady Gaga apologised for doing a song with R. Kelly and pledged to remove it from her streaming channels. Kelly's behaviour has been scrutinised for many years, and in 2008 he was acquitted of child pornography charges. When he was 27, he was married to singer Aaliyah in an illegal marriage when she was just 15. Kelly denies all of the charges levelled against him.
