Unsurprisingly, plenty of people were left fuming as Ed Sheeran tickets sell out in 5 minutes

Were you one of the lucky people that got a ticket?

Given the incredible popularity of Ed Sheeran and the size of the queues that developed overnight, getting a ticket to the Grammy Award winner’s upcoming gigs at the 3Arena was always going to be tough, especially online.

Tickets for his two nights at the 3Arena went on sale via Ticketmaster at 10am today but they were snapped up in five minutes.

Ticketmaster gave advance notice that they were expecting a surge in demand.

This being said, the online retailer has come in for heavy criticism in recent weeks after tickets for certain highly coveted gigs – U2, Coldplay and Sheeran – have instantly been available on Seatwave and other sites that charge excessive prices.

As stated previously, the ticket prices for Sheeran’s two gigs ranged from €76 to €86, but soon after they went on sale, a number of tickets appeared for outrageous prices on third party sites such as Viagogo.

While those that got tickets this morning will be counting the days until the 12 and 13 April, others have been left fuming.

Here’s hoping that Ed announced a few more Irish dates.
