Do you remember that marijuana-related Afroman song that was briefly popular back in the early 2000s? Well it’s back, with a positive twist.

The original version of ‘Because I Got High’ featured such lyrics as: “I messed up my entire life because I got high. I lost my kids and wife because I got high. Now I’m sleeping on the sidewalk and I know why. Because I got high, ‘cause I got high, ‘cause I got high…”

Basically, the moral of Afroman’s original story was that drugs are bad… M’kay.

However, the Grammy Award nominee has just re-released the tune, which featured in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and reached no.1 on the Irish music charts, but this time ‘Because I Got High’ has a positive air to it.

The new track was released yesterday on YouTube as part of a collaboration with Weedmaps, an online legal marijuana community, and NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML).

While JOE does not condone drug use in any way, shape or form, we are glad to see that Afroman has gotten his life back on track.

And finally, a word from Mr Mackey…
