Video: Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic’ song is finally ironic

If you grew up in the 90’s then you will be familiar with Alanis Morissette's ‘Ironic’ – it was practically played on the radio everyday for five years. Well two sisters in the US have changed the lyrics so that the song is FINALLY ironic.

If you grew up in the 90’s then you’ll be familiar with Alanis Morissette’s song ‘Ironic’ – radio stations bloody loved it. Well two sisters in the US have changed the lyrics so that the song is FINALLY ironic.

It’s fairly common knowledge that Alanis Morissette’s song ‘Ironic’ isn’t actually that ironic, which is pretty ironic if you ask us. But for those of you who wouldn’t be too familiar with the song, here’s the first verse from the original track:

“An old man turned ninety-eight,
“He won the lottery and died the next day,
“It’s a black fly in your Chardonnay,
“It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late,
“And isn’t it ironic… don’t you think?”…

Well, no it’s not ironic. That’s what we call being ‘sh*t out of luck’. Thankfully, Rachael and Eliza Hurwitz have tweaked the song a bit so that the lyrics are actually ironic, in the technical sense of the word.

It also helps that the girls have made their version pretty funny too…
