Video: The Frames invite David Keenan on stage to perform his own song, ‘Matchbox’, in Dundalk

Class

Conor Heneghan

Class.

You’ve probably heard of David Keenan before; in fact, we’d be surprised if you haven’t at this stage.

Earlier this year, he became something of a viral sensation after he was filmed singing in a taxi in Dundalk and his talents have earned plenty of deserved exposure since, including a quite brilliant Sunday Sessions performance on our own site.

Word of David’s talents has obviously got around to some people in pretty high places as last night, he was invited by none other than Glen Hansard to perform on stage with The Frames at a Women’s Aid fundraiser at the Spirit Store in Dundalk.

Not only that, but Glen requested that he play one of his own songs, ‘Matchbox’ with Hansard and his bandmates providing accompaniment in the background.

David Keenan playing a blinder backed by The Frames last night. Amazing show.

A class gesture by Glen and the band and a brilliant performance by David Keenan, a man who’s going places in a real hurry.

In case you haven’t heard the original, here it is and you can keep an eye on what David’s up to on his Twitter and Facebook pages.
