WATCH: This Tipperary builder took a well deserved banjo break from work and blew his co-workers away

How does someone play this fast?

JOE

He has got some fast fingers.

These men were flat out on a building site in England in the blistering heat last week when they took it upon themselves to take a well-earned break in the sunshine.

They took shelter in a nearby marquee and as they rested their bones, Brian Logue whipped out his banjo and was tuning it up to play a song or two.

Brian has just recently begun to learn the banjo and while he was plucking out the strings in order to hit the right tone to tune the instrument up, he heard a shout from his co-worker who told him to pass the banjo around and give him a go.

He thought ‘why not’ and handed his most prized possession to his colleague, Noel Cotter. Brian then had a brainwave and thought ‘wouldn’t it be funny if I recorded this and put it up on Facebook’, thinking that Noel wouldn’t be much use on the banjo.

As Noel began playing a tune really slowly, Brian heckled him. “You’re shit,” said Brian, but Noel was anything but.

Brian told JOE that the men were working hard in Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire when the video was filmed. They both have their own separate companies but have amalgamated on this project in England.

“[Noel] has a construction company called Cotter Plant and Civils and my company is called Balfie LTD,” Brian told us.

He added: “I’m learning to play and I didn’t know, but Noel is extremely good. (His band, Donnybrook Fair, played Glastonbury in 2016).

“As far as I was aware he couldn’t play for toffee and when he said ‘here, gimme a ‘go’ of that thing’, I started to film thinking it would be funny, not absolutely amazing.”

Cheers to Brian Logue for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
