With some pretty cool boats docked just down the road, we had to send our lads down to the Tall Ships Race on Dublin’s Quays to have a look at what was going on.
We had heard that the Tall Ships Race was a big deal but it wasn’t until we sent our lads down to have a look that we realised just how big a festival was happening right on our doorstep.
With music, food, a floating cinema and countless other attractions, you could almost be forgiven for overlooking the entire point of the thing; the actual ships.
So JOE spoke to captains and crew members from Irish Navy ship LE Emer and a Danish ship to find out what they get up to and how they are enjoying Dublin so far. Happiest of all was the captain of the Ecuadorean vessel Guayas, Amilcar Palacios. He should really be hired to do some tourist videos for Ireland, so delighted is he to be in the Irish capital.
The Tall Ships event runs until Sunday, with stuff for all the family to enjoy, so get down there and enjoy it.
