Two bungling burglars were apprehended by local police forces after they booked a taxi as their getaway car. Did we mention that they booked said taxi using their real names? How stupid can you get?
The Daily Mail reports that police have said they “couldn’t fail” when it came to catching stupid criminals Kevin Forrester and Robert Scullion, as they used a taxi to try and get their stolen goods back home. We think it’s safe to say that the two men aren’t exactly the brightest crayons in the box or anything…
A court in the UK were told that Forrester broke into a log cabin near a home in Suffolk and stole £7,465 of audio and recording equipment in broad daylight. He was then joined by Scullion who ordered a taxi in order to get the stolen goods home. Genius.
The taxi driver was naturally suspicious and rang the police.
Both men pleaded guilty to burglary at a court hearing last Thursday.
“It was almost like an episode of The Bill. It was a perfect example of how you couldn’t make this up,” said Peter Ferrie, the police Inspector involved with the case.
He said that the criminals used their real names to order the taxi because they didn’t have a getaway vehicle, and then they had all the stolen equipment brought to one of their homes. He said that by the time he had made a few simple phone calls, the entire case was done and dusted.
Honestly, ordering a taxi and using your real name? If we could think of a phrase to describe these two it’d probably be: “dumber than a bucket of hair.”
