This is definitely the oddest Hong Kong billionaire/lesbian daughter story we have seen this week.

Somebody needs to have a serious chat with Hong Kong property magnate Cecil Chao Sze-tsung. He is reported to have offered €50 million to any man who will marry his daughter, Gigi. A bit weird, and very generous, except for the fact that his daughter is a lesbian and is reported to have married her partner in France.

The 76-year-old is reported to be so upset at his daughter’s marriage that he has offered up the cash in a bid to find a man for her. While the money will surely attract lots of interest, we suspect Gigi won’t be too interested.

However, it seems Mr Chao is not too fussy.

"I don’t mind whether he is rich or poor – the important thing is that he is generous and kind hearted," he told the South China Morning Post.

"Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work."

The BBC are reporting that Gigi found her father’s plan ‘entertaining’ and would not take it too seriously until a candidate had been lined up.

A publicity stunt? Just a weird family? Who knows but it is certainly an odd one.
