An Internet ‘troll’ who used Facebook and YouTube to mock teens who died or committed suicide has been jailed for 18 weeks in the UK.
Sean Duffy has been branded "an internet troll" after he spent quite a bit of his time devoted to causing others emotional stress via social networking sites. His sick games started when he posted a ‘joke’ video about a 15-year-old girl called Natasha, who died after she jumped in front of a train last February. The video, which was posted on YouTube, had a picture of the deceased Natasha on the front of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Natasha’s father, Andrew MacBryde, told a court that he couldn’t believe someone would stoop that low. The sicko then created a Facebook page with the same name as his twisted video.
Duffy definitely didn’t know when to stop because he went as far as to post hatful comments on an official memorial page set up by Natasha’s brother, James. Duffy posted disgusting comments such as, ‘I fell asleep on the tracks lolz’ and ‘spoilt dead c***,’ reports the Metro.
Other trolls joined in on the sick taunts but Duffy was the only one to be tracked down by the police who had help from his service provider.
Sadly, Natasha’s memorial page wasn’t the only one that was subjected to the sick comments. Duffy mocked a young girl who died of an epileptic seizure by posting on her page, ‘Help me Mummy, it’s hot in hell.’ Duffy also attacked two other memorial pages of teens who had recently died.
Duffy was jailed by Reading magistrates yesterday for sending malicious communications. In a brief public appearance after the hearing Duffy told the awaiting reporters, “I hope this shows other trollers they are not anonymous and will be caught if they continue their vile games.”
