11-year-old boy in serious condition after being struck by van in Donegal

The young boy has been hospitalised.

Gardaí say that an 11-year-old boy has been left in serious condition after he was struck by a van in Donegal yesterday (21 February).

The incident occurred on the Slavery Road near Buncrana in Donegal at around 5.30pm on Friday. A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that the boy was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel and removed by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

As of Saturday morning his condition remains serious.

The van was being driven by a man in his 50s, and Gardaí have confirmed that he was not injured during the incident.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the collision, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling on the Slavery Road between 5.15pm and 5.45pm on 21 February 2020, to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
