13 further deaths confirmed due to Covid-19, 76 new cases

The death toll now stands at 1,604.

The latest figures published by the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed that 13 further people have died as a result of Covid-19. Taking into account the denotification of one death, Ireland’s known death toll now stands at 1,604.

Additionally, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre has been notified of 76 further confirmed cases of the virus. Ireland has registered fewer than 100 new cases for six of the last seven days. There are now a total of  24,582 cases confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.

As things stand, cases among healthcare workers continue to make up a larger proportion of all cases, with nearly 32% of all known cases associated with the health staff.

Other key statistic have also been shared:

· 57% are female and 43% are male

· the median age of confirmed cases is 48 years

· 3,211 cases (13%) have been hospitalised

· Of those hospitalised, 393 cases have been admitted to ICU
