59 patients are in intensive care with the virus.

There have been 1,470 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Ireland on Tuesday (7 September).

The figures released from the Department of Health on Tuesday did not contain information regarding deaths related to Covid-19.

As of 8am on Tuesday, 367 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 59 are in ICU.

The latest five-day moving average for the virus in Ireland is 1,381.

“Please note that case notifications may be reduced at weekends and that will be reflected early the following week,” the Department of Health said in a statement.

“5 or 7 day moving average of daily case numbers is a better indication of trends.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly gave an update regarding Ireland’s Covid-19 vaccination programme, calling the take-up across all age groups “amazing”.

As of 2 September, 99% of people aged 70-79 and those 80 and over are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 83% of those aged 18-29 are partially vaccinated, while 76% are fully vaccinated.

In regards to 16-17-year-olds, 73% have received one dose of vaccine while 52% have received two.

Out of 12-15-year-olds, 56% are partially vaccinated and 1% are fully vaccinated, given the age cohort was the most recent to be allowed to register for the vaccine.

“Remember, vaccination offers us the best pathway out of this pandemic and vaccination remains available to everyone 12+,” Donnelly said.
