17 more people have died of Covid-19 in Ireland, with 325 new cases confirmed

The death toll for Covid-19 now stands at 71.

The Department of Health has confirmed that 17 more people have died in the Republic of Ireland after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

The median age across those who died was 84, with most of the deaths coming in the east once again. 113 cases have been admitted to Intensive Care Units.

An additional 325 confirmed cases were announced in Tuesday night’s briefing, the highest single-day increase of cases so far.

The latest updates take the total number of cases in the Republic of Ireland to 3,235.

Six more deaths in Northern Ireland were attributed to the virus today, with 53 new cases confirmed. This brings the total number of cases in the north to 586. As of Tuesday, 99 deaths related to Covid-19 have been confirmed on the island of Ireland.

Across Ireland, there are 3,821 confirmed cases.
