22 counties affected by three new weather warnings issued by Met Éireann

With a snow/ice status yellow weather warning in place for all of Ireland until 9pm on Thursday, Met Éireann have issued three further status yellow warnings that will affect 22 counties until Friday morning. Three separate status yellow snow/ice warnings were issued by Met Éireann on Thursday morning, one which will affect Galway, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary until 2pm on Thursday, with the second affecting the entire province of Leinster, as well as Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal until 3am on Friday. The third, meanwhile, affects every county in Leinster apart from Wexford, as well as three counties in Ulster and Munster and one in Connacht and is in effect until 9am on Friday. The only counties not affected by any of the three new warnings, in fact, are Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon and Waterford. Snow is expected to fall intermittently in the six counties affected by the first warning until Thursday afternoon, but it is expected that the snow will clear or turn to rain from 2pm onwards. In Leinster and Ulster, meanwhile, frost and icy conditions will develop again on Thursday evening, when temperatures are expected to hover around freezing, leading to potentially dangerous conditions on untreated roads as a result. Accumulated snowfall in the affected counties is not expected to exceed two centimetres and should have cleared to rain by Friday morning. If you are venturing out of doors, take the necessary precautions, although the list of movies on the box might just persuade you to take up residence on the couch.
